Product Description

Nexa Autocolor Aquabase Plus is a waterborne matte basecoat system used for vehicle repainting in a two-coat process. It allows for accurate reproduction of original colors (micas, solid colors, metallic, special effects) and offers excellent blending and coverage properties. It is characterized by a very high-quality finish in terms of gloss and durability.

The Aquabase Plus finish is easy and quick to use. It allows for optimal reproduction of manufacturer colors in all circumstances, thanks to a wide range of solid, metallic, pearlescent, and special effect shades using modern pigments. Thanks to its waterborne technology, Aquabase Plus is a low VOC product meeting the needs for emission reduction on regulated sites, while ensuring strong coverage.

Surface Preparation

• Degrease the vehicle: remove oils and greases with the surface cleaner P850-1402.
• Dry sand: use abrasives P400–P500 on a vacuum orbital sander (eccentricity 2 to 5 mm).
• For rough sanding: Mirka pneumatic sander 5 mm orbit 8995650111.
• For finishing: Mirka sander 2.5 mm eccentricity 8995625111 to minimize "pig tails".
• Use foam pads for edges in P800 or P1000.
• Wash to remove residues and dry thoroughly before re-cleaning with the same degreaser.
• Clean and dry all surfaces after each preparation phase.
• Immediately wipe the treated surface with a clean, dry cloth.

Color Preparation

• Shake the bottles to homogenize the pigments, especially for metallic and pearlescent shades.
• Prepare the color according to the formula and filter the paint with a cone filter 125µ.
• Respect the dilution of the performance additive P935-1250 (alternative to standard Aquabase Plus thinners) for increased protection, especially on sensitive areas and in demanding conditions.
• Respect the mixing ratio of the thinner P980-5000.
• Note: the mixing ratio may vary depending on an opaque matte base or a metallic/pearlescent shade.

Spraying

• Use an HVLP gun with a nozzle 1.2, 1.3, or 1.4 depending on the equipment.
• Apply 1 wet coat, then after flash-off apply the second coat.
• Apply a placement mist on dry film at an inlet pressure of 1.2 to 1.5 bar (except solid colors).
• To optimize process time, the placement mist can be applied on semi-dry film.

Cleaning

• Clean the gun in a gun washer.
• Use the thinner P980-5000 to remove residues.
• You can then apply your body clear coat.
