What is a body putty?

Body putty is a pasty mixture of natural and synthetic substances applied directly to the bodywork in automotive construction. Thanks to its mechanical and aesthetic properties, it is used to repair, mask, glue, and seal surfaces, while also serving as an anti-stone-chip coating. It also ensures jointing between elements, sealing, bonding, and reinforcement of fragile areas.

Why apply body putty?

After sanding, using a putty eliminates the last defects present on the surface. It fills holes, rebuilds missing parts, and restores the original shape of the bodywork. For both interior and exterior use, it strengthens weakened areas and guarantees a clean and precise finish.

The different types of body putty

• Universal putty: appreciated by professionals for its high resistance and hardness. Non-porous, it does not shrink, reduces drying time, and can be applied on any metal support.
• Aluminum putty: formulated with aluminum pigments, it easily fills large surfaces (metal, concrete, aluminum, polyester) and corrects all irregularities after mixing with a hardener.
• Plastic putty: intended for plastic surfaces (covers, moldings, bumpers, mirrors). Its fine texture gives it excellent adhesion and a high capacity to absorb impacts.
• Sprayable putty: spraying allows reaching difficult-to-access areas. It hardens quickly and forms a coating on metal, plastic, PVC, and fiberglass.
• Tin putty: ideal for filling holes on supports requiring high abrasion resistance. Fast drying and easy sanding on aluminum, iron, GRP, or steel sheets.
• Fiberglass putty: compact, with strong filling power and easy to sand. Perfect for treating deep holes, dents, or rusted areas on all supports.
• Gun-applied putty: applied with a gun to save time, it covers small dents and sanding defects; its drying is fast.
• Metal putty: reinforced formulation for durable protection of the bodywork, suitable for most metal surfaces.
