Surface preparation of your body parts
- Degrease and clean your vehicle with water-based degreaser
- Old paint or original paint properly sanded and cleaned
- Primer or primer-surfacer, sanded
- Primer or primer-surfacer, unsanded in wet-on-wet process
- Don’t forget to degrease and clean your vehicle before applying paint with a solvent-based degreaser. Let the solvents evaporate
- Areas to be repaired must be sanded with P500-P600 (machine) or P800-P1000 (by hand)
Preparation of your ready-to-use paint
- Stir your paint cans well with your agitators to achieve a ready-to-use tint strictly similar to the original manufacturer’s color.
- You can add up to 10% demineralized water 8000
- For optimal application of your matte tint, do not wait more than one hour to spray after adding the viscosity adjuster
- Thanks to continuous development, Standoblue offers high levels of colorimetric precision. This is because colorimetric expertise, technological know-how, and adherence to the highest standards are all in our DNA.
- Standox helps your body shop achieve excellent results, whether for daily repairs or the most demanding repairs.
Spraying your ready-to-use paint
- The Standoblue paint system allows you to save a lot of product and energy because you spray your base with the method of 1 wet coat of paint + 1 placement coat
- The first coat is a closed coat that must reach coverage between 70 and 80%.
- For the placement coat, also called half coat, step back so that your spraying distance is longer than for the first full coat.
- Overlap passes in the still wet film of your first coat. This coat allows proper placement of metal particles and ensures correct tint placement.
- Choose a paint gun with an HVLP cap and a 1.2 or 1.3 nozzle according to the recommendations of the paint gun manufacturer you select.
- We recommend the satajet X5500 HVLP 1.2 nozzle ref 166364 or the Devilbiss DVI
- You can start the clears phase! Prefer Standox clears such as Easy K9510 for a very good entry-level, easy to use in 2 parts 1 part or a higher-end clear XTRA clear K9560.
- Characteristics of the Standoblue product from Standox
- Opaque and effect tints using advanced pigment technology.
- Exceptional colorimetric precision.
- Excellent control of mottling.
- Remarkable flow properties.
- Good blending characteristics allowing smooth transitions and invisible repairs.
- Application flexibility.
- Fast application in a single spraying operation.
