Application and preparation
Before any application, make sure to wear appropriate personal protective equipment: paint suit (e.g. 3M 50198L), FFP2 mask against vapors (3M 06942), and nitrile gloves.
1. Surface preparation
- Apply on sanded original paint or an Ixell primer (1K/2K – Fortia C1/C3/C5 or Univia C1/C6).
- Degrease using a solvent cleaner (Ixell HS3 NF) and a lint-free cloth.
- Sanding with P600 to P800 grit, finish with Scotch-Brite P1000 sponge.
- Clean with Ixell H2O surface cleaner.
2. Tint preparation
- Follow the formula via the Ixell software.
- Shake the cans well to homogenize the pearlescent and metallic pigments.
3. Spraying
- Use an HVLP gun with 1.2 or 1.3 mm nozzle (e.g. Devilbiss DVI or Satajet X5500).
- Apply 2 wet coats + 1 placement mist.
- Pass in oven before clear coating.
