Mix preparation
- D8131 clearcoat: 2 volumes
- D8255 hardener: 1 volume
- Standard mix ratio: 2:1
- Above 30°C: 0.1 volume of D8746 high-temperature thinner may be added according to PPG recommendations
- Mix ratio with thinner: 2:1:0,1
- Thoroughly homogenize the mixture before application
- PPG recommends a ready-to-use product temperature above 15°C
Hardener selection
- D8254 : recommended for normal application conditions
- D8255 : slow hardener recommended for high temperatures, particularly above 30°C
- D8255 helps maintain a suitable working time and promote good flow when applying at high temperatures
Application and advice
- Apply over a compatible, properly prepared and dry matt basecoat
- Remove dust with a tack cloth before clearcoating
- Recommended nozzle: 1.2 to 1.3 mm
- Recommended pressure: approximately 2 to 2.2 bar depending on the spray gun used
- Standard application: 2 normal coats
- Flash-off time between coats: approximately 5 minutes
- Flash-off before baking: approximately 5 minutes
- One-visit application: 1 light coat followed by 1 full coat
- Flash-off time between coats in one visit: approximately 1.5 to 2 minutes for fewer than 3 panels
- Dry film thickness: 50 to 60 µm
Drying time
- At 60°C: approximately 15 minutes
- At 40°C: approximately 40 minutes
- Air drying at 20°C: approximately 8 hours
- Medium-wave infrared: approximately 8 minutes depending on the shade
