D803 - PPG MS Hardener 1L

The D803 is the MS “Fast” hardener of the DELTRON® system, intended for 2K direct gloss (DG) lacquers and compatible products. It ensures fast and consistent curing, ideal for low to moderate temperatures, to maintain an efficient workshop flow.

• Fast MS hardener for DELTRON® Direct Gloss and compatible clears/primers.
• Simple ratios and viscosities, short flash-off, surface ready for forced drying.
• Can be accelerated with D818 (dust-free in ~5 min with D803).

Technical Characteristics

• Type: 2K hardener Medium Solids (MS) – fast version.
• Ratios with DELTRON® DG: 3:1:0.5–1 (DG: D803: thinner).
• Application viscosity (20 °C): ~17–18 s DIN 4 with MS hardener.
• Pot-life (20 °C): ~6–8 h with D803.
• Number of DG (MS) coats: 1 medium coat + 1 full coat → 55–60 µm dry.
• Evaporation time: approx. 5 min between coats; approx. 10 min before baking.
• Indicative drying: dust-free ~30 min at 20 °C (MS); through-dry ~20 h at 20 °C; oven 60 °C ~30 min.
• Recommended temperature range: ≤ 18 °C: D803 + thinner D808 (fast); 18–25 °C: D841 + D807; > 25 °C: D861 + D812.
• Optional acceleration: + D818 (dust-free ≈ 5 min with D803); other acceleration options according to TDS.
• Compatibilities (examples): DELTRON® clears (e.g., D8115/D8117) usable with MS hardeners D803/D841/D861.

Usage Instructions

1. Climate choice: select the hardener/thinner pair according to the temperature (see above).
2. Mixing: adhere to the DG ratio 3:1:0.5–1 with D803; homogenize.
3. DG (MS) application: 1 medium coat + 1 full coat; allow to flash-off (~5 min) between coats and ~10 min before baking.
4. Express option: add D818 according to TDS to reduce "dust-free" time; proceed with forced drying if necessary.
