Recommended surface preparation

• Old paint or original paint properly sanded and cleaned
• Degreasing with a hydro degreaser such as Spies Hecker Silicone Remover 7080
• Sanding of primer surfacer or primer with 5 mm orbit orbital machine up to P500 grit
• Primer not sanded in wet-on-wet process
• Finishing sanding with P800 using a 2.5 mm orbit pneumatic sander to avoid sander marks ("pig tail")
• Careful preparation and cleaning with a solvent degreaser before application
• Areas to be repaired sanded with P500-P600 (machine) or P800-P1000 (by hand)
• Filtering of ready-to-use paint through a 125 µ cone filter to remove impurities and residues
• Respect dilution with WB6000 water

Application of the Permahyd matte base shade (two-coat finish)

• Mandatory wearing of personal protective equipment: 3M suit (50425L reusable or 50198L disposable), 3M 06942 FFP3 respirator mask, nitrile gloves
• Use of a body spray gun with HVLP cap and 1.3 or 1.4 nozzle depending on brand
• Input pressure: 1.8 – 2 bar; atomization pressure at nozzle outlet: 0.7 bar
• Application in 2 wet coats then 1 placement veil for metallic and pearlescent shades
• First coat: closed and uniform layer
• Second coat: applied by stepping back, increasing the distance for a final effect veil
• Placement veil directs the effect, perfects the coverage and positions the shade
• Let dry until a completely matte finish is obtained
• Application of clears possible after complete drying
