The HS Primer 8-145 DeBeer is a high build 2K polyurethane surfacer, designed for demanding bodywork repairs. Easy to apply and sand, it provides excellent substrate preparation before painting, whether on new or repaired parts.
Usable as a sandable primer or in a wet-on-wet process depending on the hardener and application method, it ensures a homogeneous, even, and durable base for DeBeer paint systems.
Advantages of the DeBeer 8-145 Primer
- High filling power to correct small defects, scratches, and surface irregularities.
- Very good sanding properties, for a smooth surface before the base coat and clear coat.
- Versatile product: use as a sandable primer or wet-on-wet according to the chosen method.
- Good substrate protection on steel, primed aluminum, fiberglass (GRP), polyester fillers, and old paint systems in good condition.
- Easy application with a spray gun, with excellent flow and very good stability in thick layers.
- Compatible with major DeBeer paint systems for reliable and reproducible repairs.
Technical Characteristics
- Product type: HS (High Solids) polyurethane 2K sandable / wet-on-wet primer.
- Color: mid grey (GS907 Mid Grey), also available in white and black in the 8-145xx range (White / Grey / Black).
- Recommended substrates: primed bare steel, well-sanded/stripped and degreased primed aluminum, well-sanded GRP, polyester fillers, OEM primers, old paint systems in good condition.
- Application field: spot repairs, new panels, and complete substrates on light vehicles.
- Components: two-component system (to be used with a DeBeer hardener suitable for the 8-145 primer).
- Application: with a spray gun (HVLP, RP, pressure pot, Airless / Airmix according to the manufacturer's recommendations).
- Number of coats: 1 to 3 coats for a dry film thickness of approximately 60 to 180 µm.
- Drying: air drying or forced drying in a booth according to the technical data sheet (sanding possible after complete drying).
- Use: compatible with DeBeer WaterBase series 900+, BeroThane HS420 3000, BeroBase 500, and BeroMix 2000 systems.
Usage Tips for Body Shops
- Substrate Preparation: thoroughly degrease the surface (suitable silicone degreaser), sand the substrate according to recommendations (e.g., P180–P240 on old paints or fillers), then dust off and degrease again.
- Mixing: follow the mixing ratio indicated by DeBeer with the recommended hardener (MS or HS hardener compatible with 8-145). Optionally add thinner according to the desired viscosity and temperature conditions.
- Spray Gun Application: apply 1 to 3 cross coats respecting evaporation times between coats. Adjust the pressure and nozzle of the spray gun to your equipment and type of work (localized or full panel).
- Drying and Sanding: allow to dry according to the technical data sheet (air or forced drying). Then sand with suitable abrasives (e.g., P320–P500) to achieve a perfectly smooth surface.
- Overcoating: after drying and sanding, the 8-145 primer can be overcoated with the DeBeer base coat (waterborne or solvent) and then with the appropriate clear coat.
Best Practices & Safety
- Product reserved for professional use in automotive bodywork.
- Must be used in a ventilated area and with personal protective equipment (gloves, goggles, coveralls, appropriate cartridge mask).
- Follow the instructions in the DeBeer technical data sheet and safety data sheet (SDS).
- Close containers tightly after use and store away from frost, heat, and direct sunlight.
