Properties and benefits

Surface preparation before application

• Old paint or original paint properly sanded and cleaned
• Degreasing with a water-based degreaser like Cromax 3911WB
• Sanding of the primer surfacer or primer with a 5mm orbit orbital machine up to P500 grit
• Final sanding with P800 using a pneumatic sander to avoid marks ("pig tail")
• Cleaning with a solvent-based degreaser such as Prepsol 3919S
• Mandatory filtering of ready-to-use paint with a 125µ cone filter
• Respect dilution with low viscosity binders 1640WB or 1650WB

Application method

• Mandatory wearing of personal protective equipment: 3M 50425L or 50198L suit, 3M 06942 FFP3 mask, nitrile gloves
• Use of a body spray gun with HVLP cap and 1.3 or 1.4 nozzle depending on brand
• Spray inlet pressure between 1.7 and 2 bar
• Atomization pressure at the nozzle outlet set to 0.7 bar
• Application in 2 wet coats + 1 placement mist for metallic/pearl shades
• Drying and evaporation until a completely matte finish is obtained

Finish

Once the paint is dry, you can apply your clears. If you use a fast-drying or air-drying clear like the Cromax CC6750 clear, catalyze the base with 2% catalyst AR7505W.

Note: The Cromax Basecoat Blender is not suitable for dark shades.
