Technical Characteristics

- Target Viscosity: 28–31 s AFNOR4 at 20 °C
- VOC Compliance: ≤ 420 g/L ready to use (cat. IIB.d)
Substrates & Preparation
- Surfaces: sandable 2K primers/undercoats Nexa Autocolor or wet-on-wet 2K (excluding P565-668 and P565-777)
- Metals: steels and alloys (aluminum, galvanized…) prepared according to the recommended Nexa process
- Plastics: use the prescribed Nexa plastics system
- Note: do not apply directly on P572-2000/2001; new cataphoresis → apply a 2K primer first
Mixing Preparation
- Opaque Shades: P991 100 vol + P980-5000/5050 10 vol
- Metallic/Pearl Shades: P991 100 vol + P980-5000/5050 20 vol
- High Temperatures (>30 °C): up to 30% of P980-5000/5050 to improve wetting and reduce overspray
- Filtration: nylon filter 125–190 µm (do not filter at the gun)
Application (booth 23–25 °C)
- Nozzle & Pressure: gravity 1.2–1.4 mm; adjust according to gun manufacturer's recommendation
- Opaque Method: single coats to opacity; allow to evaporate to matteness between passes
- Metallic/Pearl Method: single coats to opacity then placement mist on dry or semi-dry film
- Drying Between Passes: wait until surface is completely matte; can be accelerated by air circulation (Aquadry)
Overcoating & Finishing
- Before Clear: ensure complete drying and panel cooling
- Clears: use only recommended 2K Nexa Autocolor clears
- Blending: possible according to Aquabase Plus procedure (Spectral Grey recommendation and test panels)
Cleaning & Storage
- Gun Cleaning: water + rinse with P980-5000 (or water machine P980-8212); dry before storage
- Storage: keep protected from frost, > 5 °C
