What is a spraygun adaptor?

The auto body painting spray gun is a tool specifically designed to apply paint to cars. It allows for the paint to be applied evenly and precisely, resulting in an impeccable finish.
Spraygun adaptors are used to adapt an auto body painting spray gun to a washable or disposable paint holder.
These adaptors allow you to attach your reusable or disposable holder to your paint, clear, or primer spray gun. Each adaptor corresponds to a brand and model of spray gun. Most often, adaptors are favored for use with disposable paint holders and cups. The undisputed leader and inventor of the disposable cup concept is the brand 3M. It was 3M that first launched this process of disposable cups for auto body painting, clears, and primers to save time by avoiding washing the rigid holder. The disposable holders and cups from 3M are called PPS with the top seller 3M Standard 16026 and the new generation PPS 2.0 26026 . Other renowned manufacturers have followed the concept and developed their spraygun adaptors and disposable paint cups and holders. This is the case with Saint Gobain Norton with its NPS, Sata with its RPS, Finixa, and also Mirka.
The adaptors are attached to the top of the gravity spray gun. Then the holder clips onto the adaptor. Generally, they are compatible with all types of holders.

How to use the spraygun adaptor?

Using a spraygun adaptor for car painting allows you to attach the gravity holder to the spray gun. Then, choose a disposable or reusable holder.

The advantages of using spraygun adaptors

The primary advantage is saving time. You will no longer wash your rigid holder.
The disposable holder increases productivity but is less environmentally friendly. When your painting job is finished, you discard your paint cup. You do not need to wash your holder; you replace it with a new one.
Additionally, there are different sizes of holders:

Small holders 250ml for a small element repair or spot repair
Medium-sized paint holders 40ml
Standard-sized paint holders, which are the most popular, at 650ml
Large holders for a complete repair at 850ml

Why use a spraygun adaptor?

It is recommended to use spraygun adaptors for several reasons:

Pressure regulation

Spraygun adaptors for auto body painting are generally equipped with a pressure regulator. This allows adjusting the paint jet force according to the professionals' needs.

The cleanest disposable holder system

Most spraygun adaptors feature a quarter-turn lid locking system to help reduce excessive paint flow.

More consistent paint application

The lids have a dome-shaped geometry that allows using up to 3 oz (90 ml) of product under the filter during spraying. This helps prevent splashes and other inconsistencies during product spraying.
The lids also have a wider spout to allow better product flow. Similarly, a fully integrated filter provides high-quality filtration.

A strong connection between the gun and the adaptor

The adaptor ensures a stable and reliable connection of the lid to the gun. It helps keep the integrated filter moist and reduces the need for replacement lids.

The spray gun operates at any angle

The spraygun adaptor allows spraying in any orientation up to 360 degrees. The handle of the spraygun adaptor is designed to offer a good grip, allowing precise direction of the nozzle tip.
