D701/3.5 - PPG Deltron Progress Automotive Paint Black Blue GRS DG 3.5L

The D701 is a "Blue Black" mixing toner from the DELTRON® Direct Gloss (DG) system, PPG's 2K direct gloss lacquer. Integrated into color formulas, it contributes to coverage, effect stability, and high color accuracy.

  • Standard System (NS): 2 : 1 : 0.5–1 (DG : D802 : thinner)
  • MS System: 3 : 1 : 0.5–1 (DG : D803/D841/D861 : thinner)
• Hardener/thinner choice (guide): ≤18 °C D803 + D808 / 18–25 °C D841 + D807 / >25 °C D861 + D812 (extreme conditions: D869)
• Pot-life at 20 °C: 6–8 h (NS); ~6 h (MS) – application viscosity 15–18 s DIN 4
• Application: NS: 1 mist coat + 2 full coats (45–50 µm); MS: 1 medium coat + 1 full coat (55–60 µm)
• Drying (guide): dust-free 20–30 min; through-dry ~20 h at 20 °C; oven 60 °C ≈ 30 min
• Acceleration options: D863/D864 and/or D818; edge to edge repair with D868 (1:3 from activated color)

Application Method

1. Substrate preparation: on original finishes/recommended primers; degrease then sand (P600–800 wet or P400–500 dry).
2. Mixing: formulate the color (including D701), activate according to NS/MS and choose hardener/thinner based on temperature.
3. Application: apply according to the chosen system (see above), flash-off ~5 min between coats and ~10 min before baking.
4. Finishing: allow to dry; polish/touch-up according to TDS (option D868 for edge blending).

The D701 Blue Black toner integrates into DELTRON® DG mixes to achieve deep and stable bluish blacks. With the system's DG ratios and acceleration options (D863/D864/D818), it combines color accuracy, durable gloss, and productivity in bodywork.
